Siemens-GSI Culture Leadership Poster Presentation

GSI acknowledges and congratulates long term GSI Member David Scott, Head of Environment, Health and Safety, Siemens Australia & New Zealand, for his poster presentation titled 'USING CULTURE & LEADERSHIP TOOLS TO DRIVE TO ZERO HARM IN A MULTI-YEAR EHS STRATEGY' at the XXI World Congress on Safety & Health at Work 2017, 3-6 September 2017, Singapore.

David's presentation highlighted how Siemens Australia & New Zealand had employed GSI's Safety Culture Index and Safety Leadership Index from 2013 to 2017. As David said their intent was to go beyond 'anecdotes and water-cooler' conversations to ensure data driven insights informed their safety strategy and initiatives. 

Key results included:

  • 12% improvement in safety culture
  • 42% increase in workforce participation rate in Safety Culture Index
  • 70% decrease in Total Recordable Injury Frequency Rate
  • 31% leader capability improvement

David states, 'Our focus on culture and the very specific leadership behaviours that make a difference, we have driven a sustainable step-change in reducing the frequency of recordable injuries'.
