Ben Wilson - Managing Director

Ben Wilson is the Managing Director of Global Safety Index. Ben brings more than 17 years of senior and executive leadership experience in professional services, operations management, project management and international sales to this role. As MD of Global Safety Index, Ben is passionate about working with executive leadership teams to understand their current safety performance, culture and leadership capability.

In 2011, Ben established Wilson Consulting Group, which has grown to be one of Australia’s premier safety consulting organisations which helps businesses develop the strategies, capabilities and behaviours required to build a high performing safety culture. As Managing Director of Wilson Consulting Group, Ben has successfully assisted 32 of Australia’s and the world’s leading organisations to achieve a step change in their safety performance, including companies such as Murray Goulburn, Rio Tinto, Repsol, Linfox, Woolworths, Coles Logistics, National Foods, Westpac, Oman Electricity, SP Ausnet, West Coast Energy, CityWide and Powerlink. Wilson Consulting Group has successfully delivered 11 complete cultural HSE transformations, which requires involving every level and every business unit within an organisation and achieving more than 35% performance improvement at each level.

Ben began his career with BHP Billiton, starting in engineering and working across roles in senior operational leadership and international sales for both BHP Billiton and BlueScope Steel for over 12 years. After BlueScope Steel, Ben joined BTS, a publicly listed global strategy consulting firm, as the Managing Director Australasia and Global Practice leader for Safety and Operational Excellence.

Ben has built deep professional experience in assisting complex, global organisations to understand, define and execute strategy to improve their safety performance. This passion for safety stems from a personal experience of a workplace accident within Ben’s own family, and drives Ben’s commitment to ensure that this personal tragedy does not happen to others.

Ben is a highly regarded public speaker, addressing audiences in Australia, Asia, South Africa and Europe about high performance safety culture, safety strategy development and execution, and contractor management and safety leadership.

In addition to Ben’s practical experience in safety leadership, he holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Wollongong, Master Project Director Certification with the Australian Institute of Project Management and an Associate Diploma in Metals Technology.

Ben resides in Australia with his wife and two young children, and devotes his spare time to his family, friends and enjoying outdoor sports and personal fitness.

Brendan Doyle

Brendan Doyle - Director Operations

Brendan Doyle brings over 20 years of experience in executive leadership to Global Safety Index, with extensive experience across business commercialisation, project management, business management and safety performance.

He has CEO level experience in two different industries, leading companies with multi-million dollar turnover. Most recently, he was a Senior Director within a global management consultancy for 5 years. Throughout his career, Brendan has managed a wide range of projects including; new business launch, implementation of 12 month organisation wide e-learning strategy and program, implementation of complete business restructure for existing client business, organisation wide cultural change program, and the setup and successful operation of several online businesses.

Brendan's safety performance experience includes working on major Australian and international projects partnering with organisations in the development and delivery of safety performance improvement initiatives. Brendan is an accomplished facilitator of strategic planning sessions and safety leadership programs at all levels.

As GSI Operations Director Brendan's role includes managing GSI's current online benchmarking system, member services and support, plus the project management of the development of the new and improved online system due for launch in mid 2017.
